So today I thought I would give “Top Ten Tuesdays” a try! It is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish, and this weeks topic seems to be – Top Ten Romances In Books! (how perfect for Romance Month!) There are a few ways to interpret todays topic – it could be top romantic couples, swooniest moments, and just favourite romance novels!
I decided to do a little mix of all! Because I am a HUGE fan of PNR (Paranormal Romance) expect a lot of them to be that!
Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning
My first favourite ROMANCE couple I’d like to introduce you too is a different one. They’re not some much “love at first sight” rather an opportunistic agreement. Jerricho Barrons & MacKayla Lane from Karen Marie Moning’s “Fever Series”. These two were my FIRST paranormal couple I absolutely adored! Barrons & Mac have an agreement that he will protect her as long as she finds him ancient Fae artifacts. At first Mac wants nothing to do with him, and he could be farther from wanting her in any other way but under him
BUT! By the end they’ve bonded in more than a physical way but an emotional attachment was created without them even knowing. It’s not always roses, and romance; sometimes it truly is opposites attract.
Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Next is a favourite swooniest moment for me! Travis Maddox & Abigail Abbernathy. I absolutely LOVE this book – there are multiple swoon moments some heart breaking and some you just can’t help but sigh along with. One of my favourites I think is when Travis begins to realize he is falling in love with Abby. He wants to take her to the Frat House couples dance; stops becoming the walking “one night stand” at the school AND buys a new couch (hehe!). He does all these little things that are so entirely opposite of his bad boy behaviour and I for one fell under his smouldering spell. The entire BOOK is a swoon worthy moment but those are just a few of my favourites.
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Now most of you know that I am the farthest individual from loving a Contemporary romance novel but I read my first one last year and LOVED it! This YA Contemporary Romance novel takes the cake for me as one of my most beloved stories. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry is a wonderfully crafted romance novel of two broken teenagers who just want to be “normal”. Instead of finding normal though, they found each other. It will make you cry; the characters are so real, and their love just flew off the pages.
Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
By now most if not everyone in the Y.A. world knows of Daemon Black – he is a smart-assed, witty alien with a rockin’ bod but is he romantic? HELL YES! (at least in my opinion). Daemon & Katie are a favourite romantic couple of mine – yes it may not be realistic, he is an alien, but their relationship is much more than zingy one liners, and alien drama. Daemon legitimately cares for Katie even though he knows what happens when you fall for a human. He would do absolutely anything for her, and he takes his time to take her out on dates, and accept her bookish nerdy ways. He may have a rockin’ bod but he has a heart of solid gold (- and thats hot!).
Lover Eternal by JR Ward
Another favourite romance couple of mine is Rhage & Mary from JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood series (specifically “Lover Eternal”). Rhage is known as “Hollywood” within the brotherhood; he is a playboy and beautiful to boot, although not everything is as it seems with Rhage. He NEEDS to sleep around to keep his other half at bay – until he finds Mary. Mary is the one for him undeniably so – he protects her, wants to go out on dates with her, and does NOT want to sleep with her incase he hurts her. He gives her everything he needs but Mary also does the same for him. She supplies Rhage with a calm he’s never felt before and by the end of the book you don’t care about the sex between, just their interactions. OH! Did I mention Mary has Leukaemia which makes their relationship even more bittersweet and heart wrenching romantic because she had given up on romance and adoration from any male … until Rhage.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
As one of the most romantic adult books I’ve ever read, Outlander is in the lead. Jamie & Claire bring the 20th century and 16th century to a clash. Claire is from the future were as Jamie is from the past – their relationship starts out rocky because of their different era’s but there is an undeniable connection. Jamie is a shy, inexperienced lad where as Claire is married in the 20th century. There relationship is tender, soft, and not at all rushed; it is a highly sensual and romantic novel. By far one of my favourites to re-read over and over.
Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning
Another time traveling romance to set the pages ablaze! Here we have Hawk, a seductive warrior laird and Adrienne from the 20th century New Orleans. Hawk and Adrienne hate one another when the event happens, she cannot stand his over bearing attitude or how women are to be seen and not heard; he can’t stand her over opinionated voice, and how she says no every chance he gets to him. But their love is undeniable – Hawk does love her and Adrienne would give anything to be with him. One of the best moments of this book which fall under swoon worthy is when Adrienne becomes ill, and Hawk does not leave her bedside or bed till she is recovered. She becomes feverish and he wraps her in a blanket and holds her to keep her from shivering too much. UGH! It may not be the most grandest romantic gesture ever but heck I’d love that when I get sick!
Dark Lover by JR Ward
Another couple to swoon over is Wrath, the Blind King and Beth, half vampire & half human, also the Queen. I realize the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is not one of those weak at the knees, romances but their character chemistry is undeniably my favourite. Wrath & Beth are both extremely taken with one another; Beth is the daughter of one of their fallen comrades Darius but Wrath has nothing but duty towards protecting her. But the Blind King cannot deny he wants her to be his, and only his. His type of possessiveness is intense, and seductive in a way that I cannot explain. I love their interactions with one another, and Wrath’s utter devotion towards Beth. Even in the other books following Dark Lover, Beth & Wrath are utterly captivated with one another whenever they can be. Their gesture’s and scenes are some of the most romantic I’ve read.
Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
Now I know what you’re all thinking, that how could this POSSIBLY be a romance novel. Well you’re right it isn’t but one of the scenes in Born Wicked between Cate and the gardener, Finn, is probably right on up there at the top as a swoon-worthy scene of the year! As Finn and Cate deny their attraction she needs to be hid in his mothers bookstore, Finn and Cate find a cubby hole to climb into and hide. While their they share a kiss, not anything steamy, and sexy, just a simple kiss – that makes Cate weak in the knees and uncontrollably do magic. In the book trailer, feathers start to float around them as they share their embrace and it was by far a spine tingling romantic moment for a Y.A. novel.
Well there you have it! Here are my top “9″ books for Romance in Books! I absolutely adore romance novels – they are my closet addiction! Which ones have you read? Any swoon-worthy moments or couples you’d like to add?

Haha! I just did a similar post to this one!
I really need to check out these JR Ward books and the Outlander series! *Sigh* So many books, so little time!
Aww thanks for commenting
Seriously they’re great books very VERY adult (Swearing, sex scenes, ect.) but still tastefully done. I have Outlander and Dark Lover if you want to borrow them sometime soon !
