Oh what a whirlwind of a week it has been! Monday started out with a bookish adventure with another blogger to a book signing and pre-chat with a prominent Young Adult author, and then the week continued to be great. I made contact with some publishers about upcoming books, and it looks like next week I’ll be receiving an amazing ARC I didn’t even think I was going to get!
Now todays Stacking the Shelves is small but there are still some fantastic eGalley finds and my signed book I got on Monday! ENJOY (:
“Best Kind of Broken” by Chelsea Fine
Pixie and Levi haven’t spoken in nearly a year when they find themselves working―and living―at the same inn in the middle of nowhere. Once upon a time, they were childhood friends. But that was before everything went to hell. And now things are… awkward.
All they want to do is avoid each other, and their past, for as long as possible. But now that they’re forced to share a bathroom, and therefore ashower, keeping their distance from one another becomes less difficult than keeping their hands off each other. Welcome to the hallway of awkward tension and sexual frustration, folks. Get comfy. It’s going to be a long summer.
I love all these summer novels coming out; published in the summer, about summer, summer love! This book I am extremely excited about because I’ve been looking for a sizzling summer romance book to replace Abbi Glines New Adult series (its been hard!). I think Levi & Pixie are going to have a hell of a summer, awkward or not, I’m going to adore reading about them.
“The Diamond Thief” by Sharon Gosling
No one performs on the circus trapeze like 16-year-old Rémy Brunel. But Rémy also leads another life, prowling through the backstreets of Victorian London as a jewel thief. When she is forced to steal one of the world’s most valuable diamonds, she uncovers a world of treachery and fiendish plots.
Meanwhile, young detective Thaddeus Rec is determined to find the jewel and clear his name. Will Thaddeus manage to rescue the jewel? Or is it really Rémy that he needs to save?
I’ve always heard such amazing things about heist novels and I think a jewel thief is a good place to start, don’t you? And who doesn’t love a good hero saving damsel story either! The cover definitely looks steampunk too; so we have romance, steampunk and a thief – I’m excited to get into this novel!
“The Ring & The Crown” by Melissa De La Cruz
Princess Marie-Victoria, heir to the Lily Throne, and Aelwyn Myrddn, bastard daughter of the Mage of England, grew up together. But who will rule, and who will serve?
Quiet and gentle, Marie has never lived up to the ambitions of her mother, Queen Eleanor the Second, Supreme Ruler of the Franco-British Empire. With the help of her Head Merlin, Emrys, Eleanor has maintained her stranglehold on the world’s only source of magic. She rules the most powerful empire the world has ever seen.
But even with the aid of Emrys’ magic, Eleanor’s extended
lifespan is nearing its end. The princess must marry and produce an heir or the Empire will be vulnerable to its greatest enemy, Prussia. The two kingdoms must unite to end the war, and the only solution is a match between Marie and Prince Leopold VII, heir to the Prussian throne. But Marie has always loved Gill, her childhood friend and soldier of the Queen’s Guard.
This is the most fabulous book I’ve read this year! I got it signed and met Melissa (and she is a doll, such a treat!). I haven’t finished it yet but I can say without a doubt this book is jammed packed with magic, romance, adventure and an enchanting story! Definitely without a doubt pick up this book!
